The Board

Arthur Stack

President

Arthur is a former President and Board Member of Black Rock Sports Club. A passionate tennis and golf enthusiast, he is committed to fostering a welcoming, vibrant club that members and guests can enjoy for years to come. Arthur will complete the second year of former President Brent Marcombe's two-year term, ensuring continuity and supporting the Club's ongoing strategic direction.

Tom Chapman

Vice President

Tom is a Life Member and former President of Black Rock Sports Club. He contributes tirelessly to the Club, particularly through his ongoing maintenance work, and enjoys playing tennis on the Club’s grass courts.

Michael Watts

Chief Technical Officer

A lifelong Bayside resident, Michael has been a member of Black Rock Sports Club since the age of 14 and remains an active tennis player in Tuesday night and Saturday competitions. A former Tennis Committee President, he oversaw the Club's original court lighting installation. Following a 40-year career in IT leadership, strategy and project management, Michael now enjoys supporting the Club, running a small tennis racquet stringing business, and sharing his passion for tennis with the BRSC community.

Shadi Taleb

Secretary

Shadi has been a member of Black Rock Sports Club for more than three years and is a keen tennis player, alongside his children. He recently joined the Board through a casual appointment and was appointed Interim Secretary at the April meeting. Shadi brings valuable experience and expertise in information technology, systems infrastructure and integrations.

General Committee

Tony Starosta

A lifelong Bayside resident, he joined BRSC in 2023 and quickly developed a strong connection to the Club, particularly through the Bowls Section as an avid competitor. As Bowls Vice-Captain and a Board Member, he aims to strengthen communication between bowls and the wider Club while supporting the sport’s growth, financial sustainability and community focus.

Michael Robertson

Michael brings 30 years of experience across elite competition, Grand Slam coaching, state-level sports leadership and grassroots club development, giving him a well-rounded perspective to help guide the Club’s future.

Stuart Denness

Originally from the UK, Stuart has lived in Bayside for more than 10 years and has been a BRSC member for around nine years. With over 40 years’ experience in banking and financial services across the UK, Switzerland and Australia, he is committed to protecting the Club as an important community asset for current and future members.
